President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, who is paying a state visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, was officially welcomed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Akorda Residence on April 21, 2026.
As both countries’ national flags were raised in front of the Akorda Residence, the commander of the honor guard reported to the President of Mongolia, after which the national anthems of the two countries were played.
Presidents U. Khurelsukh and K. Tokayev greeted the honor guard troops and the official delegations attending the welcoming ceremony, and took a commemorative photo.
The two heads of state will hold a one-on-one meeting and official talks, take part in a signing ceremony for documents related to the expansion and development of bilateral relations and cooperation, and brief representatives of the media.
President Tokayev graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He holds the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and a doctorate in political science. He speaks Russian, Chinese, English, and French.
He began his career in 1975 as an employee of the Soviet Embassy in Singapore. After serving as his country’s foreign minister, prime minister, and chairman of the Senate, he was elected head of state in 2019.
Following constitutional amendments, he was re-elected in the snap election held in 2022 with 81.31 percent of the vote.
Kazakhstan’s Akorda Presidential Residence was commissioned in 2004. The name means “White House.” It houses the Presidential Administration and the Office of the President.
The seven-story residence contains 12 rooms, including the Marble Hall, Golden Hall, Oval Hall, Eastern Hall, Guest Hall, Expanded Negotiations Hall, and National Security Council Meeting Hall, as well as a library and a park.
Its blue dome symbolizes the eternal blue sky and matches the color of Kazakhstan’s national flag.
As a symbol of freedom, independence, peace, and national unity, the roof is decorated with a yurt crown featuring sun rays and an eagle motif.
