The state visit of Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh to the Republic of Kazakhstan is continuing for a second day in Astana.

During the visit, the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Kazakhstan’s Foreign Trade Chamber are organizing a business forum. The forum brought together more than 100 business representatives from over 90 Mongolian enterprises and more than 150 businesspeople from Kazakhstan.

At the event, entrepreneurs from both countries exchanged information and discussed opportunities for cooperation in the food, agriculture, light industry, cashmere and wool, construction, transport and logistics, banking, and financial sectors.

At this time, M.R. Karimsakov, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan’s Foreign Trade Chamber, briefed attendees on the matters being discussed at the meeting.

He said, “Today we are meeting with our Mongolian business friends here in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, and holding our latest business forum.

Let me note that our relations and cooperation are very friendly and practical. As you know, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to Mongolia in 2024 established a “strategic partnership” between our two countries.

Within this framework, we signed a number of important documents to cooperate in many sectors, including transport, mining, and food production. Since then, we have been working together very actively.

The Kazakhstan-Mongolia Business Council has become more active, and around 400 Mongolian enterprises, including about 20 joint ventures, are operating in our country. We believe it is important to further expand cooperation across all sectors.

In 2025, bilateral trade turnover, including exports and imports of goods, increased by 7 percent compared with 2024. That amounts to 135 million US dollars. Mongolian enterprises are supplying goods in large quantities. This is very good.

That is because our country has every potential to serve as a gateway for Mongolia to the markets of Central Asia, Europe, and other countries. Therefore, it is important to overcome existing obstacles, develop transport corridors, and accelerate the movement of goods.

At today’s business forum, around 20 agreements and contracts are expected to be signed. In particular, the planned agreement to purchase trains from our country will, in our view, make an important contribution to significantly increasing transport and trade turnover. We will also sign a number of important documents, including those on supplying Mongolia with ecological agricultural products.

A large number of enterprises from Mongolia have come here. As the saying goes, “Seeing once is better than hearing a thousand times,” and tomorrow they will visit our factories and become acquainted with our operations.

There is a desire and interest in mutually beneficial cooperation on both sides. For example, while our market lacks potatoes, we have high-quality wheat that you need. I believe we have every opportunity to turn each other’s shortcomings into strengths,” he said.
