Mongolia will be represented by three athletes at the 25th Winter Olympic Games Milan–Cortina 2026 in Italy.
On January 8, 2026, the Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Ch. Undram met with members of Mongolia’s National Ski Team who will compete at the Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, along with their coaches and representatives from the Government Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, the Mongolian National Olympic Committee, and the Mongolian Ski Association.

Representing Mongolia at the 25th Winter Olympic Games, B. Achbadrakh (men’s cross-country skiing), E. Ariuntungalag (women’s cross-country skiing), and A. Ariunbat (men’s alpine skiing) have successfully qualified for participation.
Minister Ch. Undram congratulated the athletes and expressed appreciation that a Mongolian athlete will compete in alpine skiing at the Winter Olympics for the first time. She noted that while Mongolia sent only two athletes to each of the past five Winter Olympics, it will send three athletes this time, highlighting progress achieved through cooperation between government and non-government organizations. She also stated that the National Ski Team athletes are salaried, with training and international competition expenses covered, and that costs related to the Olympic Games—as well as ceremonial and competition apparel—are being financed and supported through the Mongolian National Olympic Committee.

The Mongolian Ski Association requested support for the design and financing of an international ski resort to be built in Bornuur soum, Tuv province, and presented proposals on policies and measures to develop skiing nationwide during the winter season. The association noted that in 2025, International Ski Federation expert N. Watanabe visited and approved the ski course for international certification, and that initial investment is planned to begin in 2026. Minister Ch. Undram expressed her support for the project as part of efforts to develop winter sports and tourism, noting that it would be supported through the state budget, public–private partnerships, and tax incentive policies.
Emphasizing that Mongolia’s long winter season requires greater focus on developing sports such as skiing, skating, and hockey, Minister Ch. Undram announced that provisions will be included in upcoming agreements between the Ministry and provincial and city governors to support the organization of winter sports competitions and events, as well as the development of roads, facilities, equipment, materials, and coaching staff.
The official send-off ceremony for the Mongolian team competing at the Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics is scheduled to take place on January 12, 2026, at the ceremonial hall of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee. The ski team will depart for Europe starting January 14, where they will participate in World Cup events, train at the Olympic venues, and acclimatize to local climate and time differences.
