The Government of Mongolia has approved the issuance of a ₮300 billion short-term bond on the domestic market to finance the construction of the Bagakhangai–Khushig Valley branch railway, a key infrastructure project connecting Ulaanbaatar with the new international airport zone.

According to the Cabinet resolution, the total cost of the project’s first phase is estimated at ₮850.4 billion, of which ₮156.2 billion has already been allocated for construction payments.

The railway line will stretch 102 kilometers, featuring three stations and four sidings along the route. Construction work is being carried out by 63 Mongolian companies, with 93.5% of infrastructure works already completed, government officials said.

The Bagakhangai–Khushig Valley line is part of Mongolia’s broader effort to expand its national railway network, improve freight logistics, and strengthen connectivity between industrial hubs and regional transport corridors.
