Mongolia’s state-owned miner Erdenes Tavantolgoi JSC (ETT) has exported 21 million tons of coal in the first ten months of the year, driven by stronger sales performance, improved logistics, and streamlined transport operations.

According to the company, 20.5 million tons of coal were shipped through the Gashuunsukhait Port, ETT’s main export route to China, while another 0.5 million tons moved via the Khangi Port, which became operational with a new railway link in late 2022.

The company also reported a record export day on October 18, when 406 coal trucks were dispatched — the highest daily figure of 2025 so far.

Amid steady demand from China, ETT has expanded its market presence through the Mongolian Stock Exchange, where the proportion of coal sold rose from 28 percent in January to 40 percent by October, signaling a shift toward greater market transparency and competitive pricing.
