On November 18, 2024, the Speaker of Mongolia’s Parliament, D. Amarbayasgalan, met with Sandra Shuffani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Mongolia. The meeting underscored the growing partnership between the two nations, emphasizing shared democratic values, gender equality, human rights, and sustainable development.

Progress in Bilateral Relations

Speaker Amarbayasgalan highlighted the historical significance of the relationship, noting that it reached a new level of Comprehensive Partnership last year. Mongolia regards Canada as a crucial “third neighbor” and prioritizes collaboration in multiple fields, from governance to economic development.

Ambassador Shuffani reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to enhancing economic and trade ties. She noted the launch of the ECO-FARM project, part of Canada’s broader development program, aimed at helping Mongolia adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change by leveraging local resources.

Agricultural Collaboration and Legislative Cooperation

Acknowledging Canada’s global leadership in agriculture, Speaker Amarbayasgalan expressed gratitude for projects like ECO-FARM, which contribute to Mongolia’s socio-economic development. He also stressed the importance of legislative collaboration between the two countries, indicating Parliament’s support for any initiatives aimed at sustaining political dialogue and enhancing bilateral relations.

The meeting reflects both nations’ dedication to advancing their partnership through shared values and cooperative initiatives across sectors.
