The World Adult Powerlifting Championships, held in Iceland last week, marked a historic moment for Mongolian sports. Under the guidance of D. Battulg, president of the Mongolian Powerlifting Federation and honored coach, the Mongolian team delivered a stellar performance, clinching one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals across various categories.
A Historic Victory
S. Munkhzul became the first Mongolian female athlete to win gold in the adult women’s category at the World Powerlifting Championships. Competing in the women’s 84 kg category, she secured her victory by lifting an impressive 227.5 kg in the pull-up event. Her remarkable achievement underscores Mongolia’s growing presence in the global powerlifting arena.
Adding to Mongolia’s triumph, B. Maral won the bronze medal in the same weight category, making it a double podium finish for the nation.
Munkhzul’s Impressive Track Record
S. Munkhzul’s recent gold is a continuation of her exceptional career. Last year, she was crowned the world champion in the masters category and earned gold at the Asian, Pacific, and African Championships. Her consistent success earned her the prestigious “Best Athlete” award from the State Committee of Physical Education and Sports.
