On December 2, 2024, a brief heat outage was reported at the Amgalan Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in Bayanzurkh district, which supplies heat to 50,000 households and businesses in eastern Ulaanbaatar. The disruption was caused by a short circuit in the stator of Auxiliary Equipment Compressor No. 1 at 12:24 PM, resulting in the temporary stoppage of the network water pump.

According to the plant’s Technical Department, the water pump stoppage halted water circulation in the boilers, triggering technological protection measures to prevent further complications. The issue was resolved in stages, and full operations were restored within 30 minutes.

Authorities confirmed that no heat supply restrictions were imposed on consumers during the outage. Officials urged the public to avoid spreading panic by mischaracterizing such temporary technical issues as emergencies and emphasized the importance of relying on accurate information from official sources.

The Amgalan TPP continues to operate normally, ensuring uninterrupted heat supply to its service areas.
