Mongolia Celebrates 100th Anniversary of Republic Proclamation with Grand Ceremony

Today, Mongolia marked the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic and the adoption of its first Constitution with a series of ceremonial events held at the historic General D. Sukhbaatar Square in Ulaanbaatar.

The celebrations began with the raising of the Mongolian national flag by the State Ceremonial Guard, accompanied by the playing of the national anthem. The solemn atmosphere continued with a wreath-laying ceremony at the statue of General D. Sukhbaatar, a revered national figure and symbol of Mongolia’s independence movement.

Distinguished leaders, including Speaker of the State Great Khural D. Amarbayasgalan, Deputy Speaker H. Bulgantuya, members of Parliament, and officials from the State Great Khural Secretariat, were in attendance.

Honorary Parliamentary Session

A key highlight of the day was the honorary session of the State Great Khural, dedicated to the centenary of Mongolia’s transformation into a republic and the adoption of its foundational legal framework. High-profile attendees included the President of Mongolia, the Prime Minister, foreign diplomats, and other distinguished guests.

Additional Celebrations

The day also featured a ceremony for citizens taking their oath of Mongolian citizenship and a traditional national wrestling tournament, reflecting the country’s deep cultural roots and pride in its heritage.

This momentous occasion serves as a reminder of Mongolia’s journey toward nationhood, celebrating its resilience and achievements over the past century while looking toward a future rooted in the values of independence, democracy, and unity.
